Understanding recording modes for solar-powered and AOV V380 cameras
The recording mode of solar-powered device or AOV device is based on device's current work mode.
1. Never sleep mode (Plugged-in mode)
Can set recording mode, support continuous recording and event recording.
2. Low-power mode
Can't set recording mode. The recording type according to wake-up method. If the device is woken up by PIR, the recording video is called alarm recording; If the device is woken up by user, the recording video is called normal recording.
3. Adaptive power mode
Switch to "Never sleep mode" when the battery is sufficient. Switch to "Low-power mode" when the battery is low.
- Adaptive power (Never sleep mode): can set recording mode, support continuous recording and event recording.
- Adaptive power (Low-power mode): can't set recording mode. The recording type according to wake-up method. If the device is woken up by PIR, the recording video is called alarm recording; If the device is woken up by user, the recording video is called normal recording.
4. Battery saving mode
Can't set recording mode. The recording type according to wake-up method. It can't be woken up by PIR in standby mode. It can only record when it is woken up by user, which is called normal recording.
5. AOV mode (AOV 24H recording, all-day micro power standby, without interruption)
a. No person is detected
The device wakes up at preset compressed intervals to capture snapshots and record AOV (Always-On Video). During playback, the recording is displayed in frame-skipping mode (default 1 frame per second, adjustable up to 4 frames per second).
For example, if the compressed interval is set to 10 seconds, the device captures a snapshot every 10 seconds. At the default playback speed (1 frame per second), each second of playback covers 10 seconds of real-time AOV footage. If playback speed is increased to 4x, each second of playback covers 40 seconds of real-time AOV footage.
b. Person is detected (triggered by PIR)
The device switches to normal recording mode (video frame rate is about 15 fps) and captures alarm recording.
Note:
- The adaptive mode is only supported by the specific firmware version.
- When the device has only 1 bar of power left, low power status, can't be woken up by PIR in standby mode. It can only record when it is woken up by user, which is called normal recording. And some high power consumption features are unavailable, such as PTZ and light control, etc.
- Only AOV device supports AOV record mode settings, the device without PIR can't support adaptive power mode settings.
