Network Connection

Connect your V380 camera to the internet with Wi-Fi Smart Link, AP hotspot, Bluetooth, QR code or 4G — for both iPhone and Android.

To monitor your camera remotely it must be connected to the internet. The camera supports several configuration methods — choose the one that matches the voice prompt you hear and your camera model.

The camera supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only and does not support the 5 GHz band. Most routers are dual-band, so you can still connect. Set your Wi-Fi security to WPA2-PSK (or a lower-level method) and make sure the network is password-protected.

The basic flow is the same for most cameras — add the device, scan its QR code, then select your Wi-Fi:

Adding the camera in three steps: tap the plus button, scan the QR code on the camera, then select your Wi-Fi and enter the password

Which method should I use?

When the camera powers on, listen to the voice prompt:

  • If you hear "Waiting for Wi-Fi smart link configuration", use the Wi-Fi Smart Link method below.
  • If you hear "Access point established", use the AP hotspot connection method below.

To get back to a known state, long-press the reset button until you hear "Restore factory default setting", then "Waiting for Wi-Fi smart link configuration".

Wi-Fi Smart Link

Use this method when you have a Wi-Fi network available. Place the camera right next to your router during setup.

  1. Connect the camera to power and wait until you hear "System startup completed".
  2. Press and hold the reset button on the back until you hear "Restore factory default setting" then "Waiting for Wi-Fi smart link configuration".
  3. Open the app and tap "+" to add a device, then choose "Wi-Fi Smart Link" (on Android this may be labelled "Wi-Fi quick setup").
  4. Make sure your phone is connected to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. Your network name appears under Wi-Fi Name — enter your Wi-Fi password and tap Next.
  5. The app searches for the camera over your Wi-Fi connection. The camera announces: "Configuration received" → "Wi-Fi connecting" → "Wi-Fi connected".
  6. The camera is successfully installed and appears in your device list.

The "Add manually" option is for a camera that is already connected to your home network when you want to add it to another phone. Tap "Lan Search", or type in the Device ID (printed on the bottom of the camera, in the form MV********), then confirm to add it.

AP hotspot connection

Use this method with or without a Wi-Fi network. The camera broadcasts its own hotspot that your phone connects to first.

Connecting through the camera's AP hotspot in the app

  1. Connect the camera to power and wait until you hear "System startup completed".
  2. Press and hold the reset button until you hear "Waiting for Wi-Fi smart link configuration", then press and hold it again for 1–2 seconds until you hear "Access point establishing" → "Access point established".
  3. Open the app, tap "+" and scan the QR code on the camera body. Choose "Device connected to Wi-Fi", then choose "AP hotspot connection". If the camera has no QR code, tap "Can't find the QR code on the device? Please click here", select "Wi-Fi smart camera", then choose "AP hotspot connection".
  4. Connect your phone to the camera's hotspot, named MV followed by 8 digits (for example MV12345678):
    • Android: the app jumps to the Wi-Fi connection screen — select the MV hotspot. Tap "Keep trying WLAN" or "Always connect" if asked; ignore the prompt if it does not appear.
    • iPhone (iOS): tap "Connect AP spot" / "I know" to open the system Wi-Fi settings, then select the MV hotspot.
  5. Return to the app and wait for the device to emit a prompt sound. After it connects, name the device and tap Finish.

Switch the camera to your home Wi-Fi

After AP setup the camera only works when your phone is near its hotspot. To use it remotely, connect it to your router:

  1. In the app, open Settings → Network.
  2. Select "Station (Work with router)". The "Wi-Fi list near the device" fills with nearby networks.
  3. Choose your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, enter the password and tap Save at the top. The camera announces "Wi-Fi connecting" → "Wi-Fi connected".
  4. Reconnect your phone to your normal Wi-Fi, reopen the app, and the camera appears in your device list.

Bluetooth pairing

On supported V380 Pro cameras the app can pair over Bluetooth:

  1. Connect your phone to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi.
  2. In the app, enter the correct Wi-Fi name and password to complete the configuration.

QR code pairing

Some cameras (including the mini camera) configure the network by reading a QR code shown on your phone:

  1. In the app, tap "+", enter the Wi-Fi you want to connect to, enter the password and confirm. The app generates a QR code.
  2. Aim the camera lens at the QR code on your phone screen, holding the phone about 15–30 cm away.
  3. When the camera's indicator light turns blue, the scan was successful and the camera connects automatically.

The mini camera has no speaker, so it will not play a "scan successful" prompt sound. Confirm that the indicator light has turned blue, then continue in the app.

4G camera

A 4G camera connects over a mobile network instead of Wi-Fi:

  1. In the app, tap "+" then "Add device" and scan the QR code on the camera body.
  2. If there is no QR code or it is damaged, tap "Can't find the QR code on the device?".
  3. Choose "4G networking / direct connection" and enter the device serial number manually, then follow the on-screen prompts.

See the 4G & solar-powered section for more on 4G cameras.

Set a device password

After the network is configured, the app prompts you to secure the camera:

  1. Open the added camera and tap "Set Password".
  2. Set a password of 8–40 characters that includes at least two character types (numbers, uppercase letters, lowercase letters or special characters). Enter it twice and tap Confirm.

Once the password is set, the camera switches from the red (local) indicator to the blue (remote) indicator and is ready for remote monitoring. It can take about a minute to establish the remote connection — please wait.

If the camera does not turn blue within about 5 minutes, the Wi-Fi password may be wrong or the camera may be too far from the router to receive a signal. It returns to short-range mode (red light). Reconnect your phone to the MV hotspot and run the setup again.
